CSIC officially entered the field of large LNG carriers

On December 17, at the centralized signing ceremony of the China Shipbuilding Group's marine and marine projects, China Shipbuilding Shipbuilding Corporation, CSSC, and China Merchants Steamship, a subsidiary of China Merchants Group, signed a letter of intent for 1+1 large-scale LNG carrier cooperation.

The main content of this letter of intent is to discuss and promote the cooperation in the construction and operation of the 175,000-cubic-meter Mark III Flex LNG carrier. The ship type of the project is independently developed by DSIC, and the basic design tasks have been completed for the ship type development, which has been approved by Lloyd's Register of Shipping and China Classification Society in principle (AIP).

The ship has a total length of 295 meters, a molded width of 46.4 meters, a molded depth of 26.2 meters, a design draft of 11.5 meters, a designed service speed of 19.5 knots, and a total cargo hold capacity of 175,000 cubic meters. It can dock at most large LNG shore stations in the world. Install the latest LNG dual-fuel low-speed main engine, which can meet the most stringent emission standards of the International Maritime Organization in both fuel and gas modes. The application of the new double skeg line type further improves the hydrodynamic performance and enhances the safety redundancy of the propulsion system. With GTT Mark III Flex type cargo containment system, the evaporation rate is reduced to 0.085%, and the standard configuration of reliquefaction device can flexibly handle LNG boil-off gas.

LNG carrier is an internationally recognized "three-high" product with high technology, high difficulty and high added value. China's LNG ship construction technology has completed a historic leap from following to parallel operation, and the construction capacity of large-scale LNG ships has been continuously improved.

Since the beginning of this year, Hudong-Zhonghua, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, for the first time in the history of China Shipbuilding Corporation, has achieved the pioneering launch of two LNG whole ships in the same dock on the same day, and delivered two large-scale floating LNG storage and regasification vessels of 174,000 cubic meters independently developed, designed and built. chemical unit (LNG-FSRU), one of the world's largest "all-round" liquefied natural gas "LNG" bunkering ships.
