On December 22, the Haikou Maritime Safety Administration carried out a special security inspection on the "Haitang Bay" ro-ro passenger ship, marking the official start of the special security inspection of the Qiongzhou Strait ro-ro passenger ship in 2022.

According to reports, in order to strengthen the safety supervision of ro-ro passenger ships in the Qiongzhou Strait during the Spring Festival in 2022 and ensure the safety and smoothness of water traffic in the area during the Spring Festival, this special security inspection is carried out by the Haikou Maritime Safety Administration and the Zhanjiang Maritime Safety Administration. More than 50 ro-ro passenger ships were inspected to ensure full inspection coverage. Focus on checking the fire-fighting and life-saving equipment, crew performance capabilities, emergency response arrangements, and epidemic prevention and control measures of ro-ro passenger ships.

It is understood that this special security inspection will end on the eve of the Spring Festival. During the operation, the Haikou Maritime Safety Administration will strictly follow the work deployment, solidly promote special security inspections, and urge the ship to rectify existing problems before the start of the Spring Festival, so as to prevent ships from "sick" sailing, and to ensure the safety and convenience of people's water travel during the Spring Festival.
